old seat help pls!

Post by trexshop »

I have a '72 ford f100 with old stock seats. Apparently the passenger side is stuck and will not move forward or backward. The driver side works fine, while using the lever it moves from front to back with no problems. The passenger side doesnt seem to have a lever but it still similar mechanic to the other side (with the metal plate with spring going in and out of the groove). Is there a lever for the passenger side that I am not aware of? I know its probably simple as all get out but I cant get it too move! PPls help and thank you for you time.

The lever on the driver's side actuates both sides. There's a wire that runs, under the seat, from the driver's side mechanism to the mechanism on the passenger's side. The spring is just what lets it pop into position. That wire is either broken, disconnected or the mechanism is just stuck.

Try some silicone lubricant on both side of the seat mechanism.

I believe there is a sort of turnbuckle or similar device that will allow the "wire" that operates the right side seat adjuster. If there is slack in the "wire", the right side will not release.

Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in garages. (Apologies to Kenneth Grahame.)
