thinking of putting buckets in

Post by 48prerunner »

I know 60s mustangs buckets were an option and I have a bunch of them laying around. I also have buckets out of an 87 sxt ranger same as mustangs and t birds form 80s-90s I know the later seats are much more comfortable. TMI makes sport seat conversions for both. I'm leaning towards the later seats cause I plan on driving like 80 miles a day.

I would have to go with the first seats. The 66 Sport II's. They look pretty close to the factory buckets for our trucks.

:yt: but I just like the low back original buckets. They're not the most comfortable in the world though.

Problem with the 66 seats is they flip forward when ever you stop quick, think somebody makes a safety latch for them. Might install seat heaters at same time. Thanks for the input.

some taller buckets will hit the back of the cab or the rear window unless you remove the headrest..or even then, the supra buckets i ran for a summer way back when hit no matter what i did (unless i sat crammed right into the steering wheel ) and the nasty red velour highbacks (complete with non functional 6 way power adjustments )in a parts truck i had were even worse
- still got my first first car 20+yrs later : 69 f100 sorta kinda pretending its a Mercury M100 w/a 70 f350 sport custom cab (factory buckets) 67 grille with 69 ranger cooneyes 68 merc box and hood, some supercool fiberglass fenders i scored way back when, 76 f150 disc brake frontend..currently running a 90 5.0HO 4bbl/c4 auto & 3.50 posi...originally a 360/c6 f100 Ranger with dealer added towpack (incl. kelsey hays trailer brake),boxside toolbox, behind the seat stowage & belly tank...only original parts left on 'er are the frame, rear end, rear springs, and rear bumper...

They look great Have only seen one with those in person . I really like the red with the white truck. About how much room between the seats? My 87 seats are red problem is truck is green so too much like Christmas. One reason to recover.

Other is to switch up to the Mach 1 style . I think with the lowered stance of my truck and the 5.0 coyote up front I can pull off the more modern seats. My seats are the low back so just have to worry about putting my head through the back window not the seat.

I also have the bench seat out of a 68 mustang.

TMI makes "sport seat" kits consisting of thicker foam, bolsters and matching upholstery. Vintage look, modern feel.

Early OEM seats feel like an upholstered park bench. I drove my 65 'Stang from PA to CA and my azz was still sore three days after arriving. ..
