Removing the bench

Post by 3 Speed »

How? Unbolt the tracks, take it out as a unit? Take the back off first? Does the seat come off without taking the tracks out?

Thanks.

Unbolt both tracks, eight bolts total, four on each side. Take it out as a whole. Can be done solo, easier with a helper.

you can take the back off first if you wish to make it lighter and easier to move out of the truck. Two 5/16" allen shoulder screws if I remember right.

I've done it both ways. The first time was as a unit, with my son helping. After that, I took the back off, 'cuz I had to do it myself. Sooooo much easier on a 50-something-year-old back to do it in two steps. Also easier to line up the mounting holes with just the bottom to man-handle.

Thanks, guys. I thought I might see what is under there, clean the original mat, etc. even if I cannot afford to take the seat to an upholsterer for now.
