Any ideas?
I want to change the rear end gearing on my '69. Currently has a 3:50 and I want to go with something like a 3:00 or maybe a 3"08. Other than a ring and pinion gear, what else will be required to swap it out?

As long as you're in there, might as well put new bearings, seals, etc if you plan on keeping her awhile. That's assuming you haven't recently. When I did mine u bought a kit with everything in it for around $130.

Too bad I'm not still in TX, I'd trade you my 2.93-3.00 rear for yours.

Yeah, I will. I've had this old relic too long and spent too much time and money to get rid of it now. Wish I could post a picture of it but I'm having a hard time with it.sargentrs wrote:As long as you're in there, might as well put new bearings, seals, etc if you plan on keeping her awhile. If you're on a budget you could put in a used center section from an old LTD.BlueovalFE wrote:Yeah, I will. I've had this old relic too long and spent too much time and money to get rid of it now.
They usually had around a 2:78 ratio and weren't abused too much.
As long as the axle splines are the same (28 or31) and a nine inch they'll interchange .
You'll probably have to change the yoke.
They aren't a performance rearend so it should be less than $100. ($50)?
