Hung up shifting problem and picture

Post by natec96 »

My transmission (a c4 from a 70 f100 converted to a Manuel) has been having problems for awhile now and I've been trying to find the source of the problem (the problem being getting hung up constantly , 85% of the time going in to second and the other 15% going out of 2 to first and rarely to 3rd (it's a 3 spd btw ) and I have a picture showing something I found. Could this be the problem? Thanks!

Are you saying that you gave converted to a full manual valve body ? If so, whose ? Can you expand the view a bit to cover more area? I am not sure enough with what I am seeing in your photo...............a full manual shift valve body is not visible from the outside. All change's are inside the valve body.........You will need to use a special shifter, & advise anyone who drives this unit, that if it is started out in D on your shifter, you will be starting out in 3rd gear.........Any one not acquainted with this set up can fry your trans in 5 minutes
These valve bodies are built for drag cars & are not meant for the street.....They are easy to build & sell for big $$$....
I never built one for street use..............Donnie :2cents:

Put shifter in neutral
Remove both links at the shifter
Find the hole on the drivers side of the shifter (1/8"??) and insert the proper size rod (drill bit)
Adjust the linkage length to the proper length.
Remove drill bit.
