flasher switch
Why do some trucks have the switch under the dash by the foot pedal and some have them in the glove box. i seen two 68's today that had them in the glove box. one was a cs and the other a custom. i saw another custom the other day that had it under the dash my ranger has it under the dash. surely there couldn't have been a wireing harness difference like that could there? maybe a mid year change?

re: flasher switch
It would depend entirely on what other options the truck came equipped with from the factory.
The standard mounting for '70-'72 had those mounted in the dash. However, if the truck was equipped with a cargo light, then there wasn't room in the dash so they'd use the underdash bracket.
As for the earlier trucks, the glovebox mounting was where they normally would go. However, if a truck was equipped with factory A/C, that meant it got the smaller glovebox and therefore the switch wouldn't fit, so it would be mounted under the dash. I'm not sure about the harness differences, but I don't believe they'd have a special version, since they'd easily stretch down to the alternate mounting locations.

re: flasher switch
There's been more than a few discussions about the locations of that switch, and the general concensus was.....nobody knows for sure. It's possible that some owner's didn't like having to pop the glovebox to flip the switch so they just unscrewed it and re-mounted it down under the dash.

re: flasher switch
I actually need one of these switches that go in the glove box to replace the butcherment the previous owner did on my truck. Email or PM me if you have one. I will also need the wiring socket because that was cut off as well.
Thanks,
Patrick
