Hey Joe, if I remember correctly, there are either 3 or 4 different kits for our bodystyle trucks. One for 67, one for 68, one for 69 and one for 70-72 or some combination like that. I know my kit for my 67 didn't really work right on my 68. Minor differences, but still differences. I would check on the Grant site to be sure.

Good Luck with self canceling turn signal. I had a 15" Grant for years and had off & on several times trying to make self canceling turn signal work, either pin was too long and would rub and knock itself out or too short and wouldn't work, which is way I ended up leaving it, with an extra loud flasher. Thankfully when I put in new tilt column and new wheel (with dreaded GM adapter kit) everything works fine.

Cacwby is the cancelling pawl part of the adapter kit or do you use the one already in your column?

Joe, I believe around 20.00 in the catalogs and parts houses. I didn't have the self-cancelling problem with mine in either truck. Maybe there are slight differences in the manufacturing?Good luck, John.

I believe you re-use, and for all I know I may have been the only one to ever have a problem.

I just bought a kit last week to put a wood rim wheel on the 79 tilt column I plan to install in my 68. It was #3249. Checked out the Grant site tonight and here's what I found:
67- #3294
68- #3285
69- #3249
70 to 77- #3285
78 to 91- #3249 tilt or plain

The instructions do make mention of that extension on the end of the columns too, Keith. "It will be necessary to hacksaw this off for proper horn operation".

Geez,you guys are helpful...Thanks for the part numbers Mike...Anybody know why the 69 is different?...I'm going to go ahead and buy Jor's...But I'm not too crazy about sawing the tip of the steering shaft off...If I did,would I ever be able to go back to an original wheel?....The previous owner also installed a dash buttoned 'a-ooh-ga' horn which I'm going to keep on there for sentimental reasons,....I suppose I could just wire the a-ooh-gah horn switch to the regular horn if I don't want to do any hacksawin'....Or mebbe get a spare shaft at a junkyard...Are those hard to change?

JOhn's right there are several different kits for our years.

I ended up buying about 4 different ones and using parts from each one.

Sometimes my turning indicator cam functions, sometimes it no work?

I also installed the Handy Dandy Quick Grant Disconnect to my wheel and I love it!
I recommend it to all my brothers out there in TV land!

Ain't no one gonna try and take my Jethro from me...Not even old man fire!
