Drive shaft length question
I know that a straight six is longer than a V8, but if you swap a I6/3-tree combo for a V8/3-tree combo will your driveshaft length change?

Re: Drive shaft length question
Your drive shaft length will not change as long as the V8/ 3 on the tree combo is from the same generation truck. The bell housing clearances at the fire wall were maintained for whatever motor, say a 302, was optioned in the truck. What will change is the front of the motor in relation to the fan, fan shroud and the motor mounts.

Re: Drive shaft length question
Thanks! That answered my question perfectly. I am going from a 240/3 speed to a 351w/aod combo. I was hoping it would be the other way in an attempt to reuse my factory driveshaft. Ok, new question....has anyone reading this done a SBF/AOD swap and if so, is there a factory shaft that will work? Oh! Mine is a '67 short bed.
