C6 shift retainer clip

Does anyone know what size and type clip (part number?) is the correct one to go on the transmission end of the shift linkage rod coming from the column?

Which groove is it installed in? My rod has 2 grooves in it:
A shallow narrow one near the end.
A deep wide one farther in.

There is a nylon bushing that presses into your linkage arm on the trans & the linkage presses into that..A little lube helps as it is a tight fit.
Any tranny shop should have a box of them.......I'm not sure if a dealer would be able to help you or not..Depends on the counter person

On both my '71 and '72, there's the nylon bushing on both ends, with an E-clip on the end nearest the column. End nearest the column is also threaded for adjustment.
My '76 had a nylon bushing only on the column end, the adjuster was on the trans end, held with a flat washer and E-clip.
A few changes over the years, mixing parts, there's some different ways to attach it.

Wider groove for the nylon bushing, narrow groove for an E-clip is how my trucks have it, sorry I don't know the size or part #.

I used a 3/8" E-clip on my '69. But, I also don't have the nylon bushing. The pin on my column linkage is the same diameter as the hole in the transmission linkage. There's no room for a bushing to go in there.

If both hole a shaft are the same size. Could you use a horse shoe clip that is used on the emergency brake lever, the one that you squeeze to hold the lever to the brake shoe ? variable size clip...................Donnie

Now here's the Problem when I tried to push the bushing on the ring broke out of it. The bushing still good and I'm sure the C clip will hold it on but its not on there by design anybody know of a way to get these on without this problem. Thanks

My linkage does not use a bushing at transmission end of rod just C clip. The C clip looks like it is designed to put pressure on the bushing when installed here's a pic with the C clip and steering
column arm. I don't know all of the correct terminology. Update just put it away got frustrated could not get this bushing on the steering column arm either destroyed the new bushing. Maybe
this isn't the right bushing looks identical though. Thanks I was trying to help.

I have had the best results by putting the bushing into the steering column arm first, then putting the shift rod end into the bushing with a channel-locks pliers. Also, I put a bit of grease on the rod end so it goes in easier.
