I am looking for someone (who has the liner out )that can make me a templete for the rear section of the headliner, I would rather cut once than 2 or 3 times..
Would be glad to pay you for your time and trouble.

I think I told you a while ago that I was going to do this for you.... I still plan on it if I can find the time. If someone gets it done for you before that, then great! But I will try and get this done sooner than later. Once I get it made, then we can figure out how I will get it to you.

What kind of template?

My headliner is in real nice shape, but has some sags in the middle. I need to take it down and check for rats nests and clean above it, and I may have to re-form it somehow before I reinstall it.

I'm also still in search of a good replacement for the center strip between the two pieces. Mine is in real nice shape for 45 years old, but has shrunk an inch or two in length and doesn't want to stay snapped on to the very ends any more. I'd like to find a new repro or replacement that'll last quite a while longer and look nice and original.

I wish I could find a replacement center cross support to mines made out of plastic and is cracked and brittle. Why did they make this one out of plastic but the rest of the trim around the edge of the liner was all metal in my crew.

I just traced my rear headliner on a large piece of paper for him so he could make one for himself as he does not have one at all.

As for the center strip, I had the same problem with mine as it would not stay up in a few spots. There is no reproduction and I have heard you can get them out of older econoline vans, but cannot confirm that. Even if you did, they would be the same age with the same problems. What a few of us have done are take the 2 rear pieces out of the standard cab headliner trim and used those instead by screwing it into the center "snap bar" which the plastic piece goes onto. The 2 metal bars that the standard cabs use above the back window are the same width and just about the same length as the plastic piece. The only parts that might need a little modification (for cosmetic purposes only) are the ends as they have a slot in them that goes around the screws in the corners of the standard cab. But check it out and you will see what I mean. It actually makes a better replacement then a plastic piece and with it screwed in, it makes the headliner more stable in the center and you dont have to worry about the trim falling down on you.

How did you manage to screw into that thin little bar in the roof?

I don't have any extra headliner trim from a regular cab to test fit, only whats in my crew. Are they different? I thought the rear would be the same, just the sides different?

I havent actually installed mine yet as my truck is still in pieces but I came up with idea when I was looking at the parts and then found out that others have done the same thing. The holes are already in the trim so to do it is as easy as having someone mark through the holes while you hold the trim in place and then drill small pilot holes on the marks. Then put the trim in place with some small self tapping metal screws. Should be easy enough.

And I believe that the rear trim on the crew is the same so you can put it up against the plastic piece to see what I am talking about. Then just obtain some more rear trim from a member or junkyard to do it if you like the idea.
