I have a freshly rebuilt C6 with a 2500 stall converter and Transgo shift improver kit. Manifold vacuum is good to the modulator.
When I'm coming to a stop; the tranny doesn't downshift until I'm going maybe 5mph or less. Is this typical for a C6?
It's annoying to slow down at an intersection to make a turn and to have the truck still in Drive when I take off after the turn.
When I slow down for speed bumps going maybe 10mph; the tranny stays in Drive. I get over the bump and give it gas only to be in Drive again. I guess I'm use to newer vehicles??
Question for you C6 guys

Re: Question for you C6 guys
Without the "kickdown rod" from the carb , the trans won't down shift properly.
There's a spring loaded lever on the shift linkage that needs a rod to the carb linkage.
I've done without for years , you can downshift manually.

The kickdown rod is only used for WOT kickdowns.cep62 wrote:Without the "kickdown rod" from the carb , the trans won't down shift properly.

Re: Question for you C6 guys
Do you have the kickdown connected or pulled all the way forward and tied off? Secondly the modulator if adjustable. That is usually for up though. Kickdown does more than just WOT. I don't remember all related but a search should find you info. What stage shift kit did you use? You may also be running too high of a stall.

For a stock C6 this is not normal.
Don't have a clue of your mods affected it or not though.

That's what I was wanting to hear. I'm sure the shift kit probably worsens the situation with boosted pressures. Thanks!ToughOldFord wrote:For a stock C6 this is not normal.
