Does the1980-1983 Ford F-100 9-inch rear end assembly with the 5-on-4.5 bolt pattern bolt right in to a 69 or will the spring and shock mounts need moving?
Is there a bolt in option to switch up the bolt pattern?
I'm considering a mustang 2 or CV front end also.
rear end advise if you please

I would assume you'd have to move the spring/axle perches. You have to on the dents so the next generation probably has to also.

Sure.. I'll chime in.BrockGrimes wrote:Does the1980-1983 Ford F-100 9-inch rear end assembly with the 5-on-4.5 bolt pattern bolt right in to a 69 or will the spring and shock mounts need moving?

The spring pads definitely need to be moved - not sure about shock mounts. In the end, it's not a direct bolt-in.
If you're doing the CV swap, then the front and rear would match. If keeping the 5.5 pattern, the better option is to get a 9-inch out of another Bump....no mods necessary.

A tech at Currie says the axles are the same but I knew they were wider, so it figures another person who doesn't know their job.

Figure maybe a CV front then get the rear drums drilled for the new pattern. Also will get the drums drilled for venting and better traction. Its an old racer trick.

Or, you could get the '80-'83 9 - inch rear end with the 5-on-4.5" lug pattern, lose the drum assemblies, add some Cobra large axle bearing adapter brackets and bolt on a set of Cobra rear calipers and the Cobra 11-5/8" rear discs.
