72 F-350 crew cab engine/trans swap

Post by salisbury68f250 »

I have a 1972 F-350 crew cab with a 360cid engine and 4spd manual transmission. I am wanting to swap in a 460cid engine and C6 automatic transmission. My question is, will I have to modify the drive shaft length? Figured there were probably a couple guys on here that have done this swap before.

Probably.. but what model trans do you have? An NP or T18 is short and stubby. A C6 is much longer. All that may be required is a coupling shaft from a C6-equipped FE.

That's all I needed when I swapped from an NP435 to a TKO five-speed.

I agree with HIO Silver...the C6 is going to be longer. What about how the drive shaft connects to your C6, is it a slip joint or flange type?
