Not a NP435 expert, please let me know what your opinion is.
Purchased a 1972 F100 Ranger 4x4 360 w/ NP435.
Clutch feels strong but it engages (hooks up) very late in the clutch stroke. Probably the last 1/4 of the way up.
Does this indicate the clutch, throw out bearing, etc is going out?
Is there a way to adjust this?
Thank you for your help.

If you have some freeplay in the pedal at the top of the stroke then yes your clutch is in the later stages of it's life. If you don't have any freeplay in the pedal then you should adjust your linkage accordingly.

I would go under the truck and remove the inspection cover so that you can see the throwout bearing. Have someone inside the cab slowly depress the pedal until they throwout bearing begins to touch the pressure plate, then tell them to STOP and hold the pedal right there.
Go and see how far the pedal is depressed before clutch engagement. It could be something as simply as adjusting the clutch rod, which is under the truck at the clutch fork.
Never hurts to check the obvious before tearing into something
