I've got the NV4500 in the truck now and using the mount from the T-18? with a couple additional holes I've managed to get the same angle on the transmission as the rear end. They're both at about 4.5 degrees so I'm good there right? A shot of the mount, I'm really pleased with how it looks.
On to the crossmember. I had to move it back about six inches for things to fit which puts it in the way of the gas tank. So now I need to trim the crossmember at the drivers side.
As you can see I need to take out a substantial portion of what I assume are structural bends. Can I remove that much if I weld a piece back in?
I'm planning to weld a flat piece in vertically at the red line and trim the flange at the blue line. I could probably even use a piece of angle as long as I turn the angle to the middle. Would either of these work? Any help is appreciated.
Looking for input about crossmember modification and a pinion angle question

Re: Looking for input about crossmember modification and a pinion angle question
Well I went ahead and cut it up as I planned.
Doesn't look like my drawing but then my drawing wasn't that great.
I trimmed the front side for the transmission and so I could get a nut on the trans mount.
I used an old crossmember that was lying around the shop for filler. Worked out well since it had the same basic shape.
Sorry I don't have any pictures of the crossmember before mounting it in the truck. I'm not much of a welder and when I do things that are new to me I tend to put one foot in front of the other until I'm done and then realize maybe I should have got a couple pictures.
It's close but it works.
