Will a 300 I 6 manual transmission bolt to a 460

Post by Diesel1050 »

Have a 1990 Ford 300, straight six in my F-250. It has the 4 speed w/overdrive, manual, and is the tranny with the bellhousing cast into the tranny. Will it bolt up to a 460 big block? Is there a conversion plate? Are the shaft lengths and splines the same?

Yep, I did determine that it is a ZF-5. Have found conflicting information as to wether or not the straight six is the "Big Block" pattern or not. DO they in fact make an adapter? Checked EBay, Craigslist, and all 23 used auto part places in Maine! Plenty of cheap, running, 460's, but no manual trAnnies. The 7.3 has the same pattern as the 460 right?

No I do not believe the 7.3L International has the same bell housing pattern as a 460 "big Block"
