I'm new to the late '60s to late '70s era Fords but acquired one, a 1974 Ranger, recently that, and I know this will shock all, needs a little TLC.
First things first: a fluid leak at the rear diff. Looks like coming from the front so guessing pinion seal? Anything tricky about replacing it? Know of any previous posts that goes through this diagnosis & repair? Looked for a search function but didn't find it, which may be explained by poor eyesight or impatience. Thanks for any suggestions or points.

Pinion seal is easy to change. Unbolt the drive shaft at the yoke. Remove the yoke nut. Slide the yoke off. Pry out the old seal. Clean and lube the new seal and mating surfaces. Tap in the new seal. Replace the yoke. Torque the nut. Reinstall the drive shaft.

Re: pinion seal, i think
One comment I'd make is to mark with a small center punch the nut and the front of the pinion shaft in order to put these back at exactly the same spot they were originally. I know I'll get differing opinions on this part but I would also tighten the nut an additional amount to ensure tension on the crush sleeve. This additional amount is mostly a feel thing but I would only go maybe 1/64th of an inch past the original punch marks.

Make sure the vent is open.
The metal fitting has a small hole , I cleaned mine out and my pinion stoped leaking.
