Factory Overdrive Floor Shifter
Just bought a 67 Ranger with the factory Borg Warner overdrive. Does anyone know of a floor shifter available for it?

Re: Factory Overdrive Floor Shifter
I tried to install a 3-Speed shifter on mine and found that the Overdrive Solenoid is in the way of the shift rods. That's the main issue that you'll encounter. It's probably not impossible if you put some crazy bends in the rods or extend the shift levers on the trans. I decided that it was more work than I wanted to do, especially not knowing if it would actually work right after I was done. Somebody probably has done it, but I haven't found any reference to one that was.

Think I'm going to swap it over to an automatic.

Automatics are nice.RangerRat wrote:Think I'm going to swap it over to an automatic.
The Borg-Warner T-85N Overdrives are a good, strong transmission, so, if you do swap it out, don't junk it. Someone will want it, especially if it has the wiring harness with it.

Yeah. If I change it to auto I'm going to pull all the O/D components off and offer them up for sale.

Re: Factory Overdrive Floor Shifter
Floor shifters were available on the aftermarket for the T-85, but not for the T-85-OD, for the reason stated elsewhere in the responses: the shifter rods would require some kinky bends and likely not enough of them would have been sold to make it worth Hurst's time to develop the rods needed.
If you decide to switch over to an automatic, please let me know as I'd be interested in your T-85-OD setup. Drop me a line at hobartmta@gmail.com, please. Thanks! Clay.

Thanks, Clay. For sure when/if I change it over I'll post it here for sale. Got some things to do to get the truck road worthy. So I haven't gotten to drive it any yet. I prefer an automatic. But will be interesting to see how the overdrive trans is to drive.
