I have a 3.03 transmission in my 1972 f100 . Can anyone enlighten on what kind of horsepower and torque they are capable of handling ? Because I'm about to Swap the 302w thats in it for 357 I've been building in the garage and its symbol to yield more power . So I would not like to bring a good transmission to utter failure. So if someone could give me some viable numbers that are consistent because I've looked all over and it seems like people just throw out random numbers.

I can testify the 3.03 tranny will take it's share of abuse, but why bolt a high performance engine to a low performance transmission? The car 4 speed toploader or TKO tranny would be a much better choice for performance use.

Well I do enjoy this old stock transmission . But I am keeping my eyes open for a good replacement transmission . But I know if I do replace it I will have to modify the driveshaft .

I would like to keep it with the ability to use it as a truck so if you have any better truck transmissions not the high performance car transmission to suggest I would appreciate it
