AM Radio Install

Post by 71StylesideF100 »

I was able to track down an AM radio and got it installed this past weekend...yay! I tested it out with
a speaker I had laying around and it works fine. I'm now on the hunt for a stock speaker and bracket
but was hoping someone could answer a question.

Here's a picture of the radio I installed. Does anyone know for this part number whether I need a 4 ohm
or an 8 ohm speaker? Or what year they changed from 8 to 4?

Thanks!

And here's a shot of it installed. Love that it lights up.. no more dark hole in the dash!

My 67 camper special never had a radio from the factory so I had to start from scratch. It took a while but I finally got the radio, radio mounting brace, speaker and mounting bracket, antennae etc. It works okay but not as good as I'd hope. It doesn't light up either but it looks stock!

That reminds me of what my son said when we tested the radio. One of the reasons I bought the truck was so I could
teach him how to work on cars, like my Dad did, and also a project where we can spend time together as he grows up.
So when I got the radio all hooked up I made sure he was the one to turn it on and see it light up (he's 7). So he turns it
on, I think he was expecting it to sound like my 2013 car, and as we were tuning in a station he starts to get this perplexed
look on his face and says "hey! this sounds like an old timey radio". I started laughing and turned to him and said well that's
because it is. He's growing up in the iphone/ipad/laptop/bluetooth/HD world yet somehow really loves this truck. If I ask him
to go on a run with me his first reply is usually "nah". But if I say it's in the truck that answer quickly changes. Good times.

Small stamped steel nuts on plastic studs. Not hard to remove, but hold on to that plate: some folks like them.

thanks for your help on this . this is first f-100 that i have owned that had a delete plate. my other trucks where a 67 f-100 lwb. camper special that my dad bought brand new. a few years later i had a 69 f-100 lwb. i may make a bracket that will mount under the dash. unless i find a REALLY good deal on a set of mustang bucket seats.then i will fab. some kind of console between the seats and put it there. but it seems like everyone is using their phone for music. not really sure which way to go? i talked to someone at mustangsunlimited about seats. he said that if you can find two pass. seats or two driver,s seats all you need is the correct slider. if you had two pass. seats you would need a drivers seat slider. the knob that makes the seat tilt will not really matter. since you most likely will not need to tilt the seat foward. i know where there are two pass. seats i just need to find out how much they are.
