I wish that you guys had warned about the smearing gauges about a month earlier. I too fell victim to the magical disappearing speedo numbers. Lucky for me I found an NOS speedo to replace it but it ended up being a $35 cleaning. I did learn my lesson though.

re: Warning to those working with a F-600 dash.
Just a quick update and shot of my Friday night. My VDO gauges came in today and I spent the last couple hours working on mounting them behind my F-600 panel. I still have a lot of work to do but figured I'd put up a quick pic so far.

Not bad at all....looking good! I'm assuming you're going to mount a tach in the right pod blank?

re: Warning to those working with a F-600 dash.
Actually, the tach is in the spot of the vacuum gauge. Since the vacuum gauge has a unique bezel, I ended up sacrificing the factory gauge and reusing the bezel on the new tach. In order to get all the gauges to match I ended up getting a slightly undersized tach/speedo. I bought these particular gauges because I thought I'd be able to use the factory tin piece between the glass and gauge assembly for an idea I had for the finished product. I am going to have the piece replated (chrome) and I want to paint the face of the piece, then wipe off the fins so the backround is the same color as the truck. I wanted to further the detail by painting the tin piece that same color. (factory it's black). Once I got the gauges mounted into a new piece of metal and placed the tin piece over the top, the face of the gauge seemed cluttered. Oh well. If I can find an aftermarket vacuum gauge to match the VDO gauges I'll put it into the blank post plating, but otherwise I'll do something else. Having a vacuum gauge wasn't high on my list of priorities.

re: Warning to those working with a F-600 dash.
I used a dremel to slice the back off the vacuum gauge and "gut" it. The only other way to take the thing apart is (as far as I can tell) to pretty much destroy the bezel. My new tach slides into the housing and currently is held in place with a small shim on each side. I'm going to fab up a bracket set up tomorrow to complete the install. Originally I cut the back off the Vacuum gauge to clean the glass, because the back was dirty, and my plan was to epoxy or jbweld the case back together to reuse it.
