Leaky tranny

So my transmission c6 is leaking i think from where the kickdown brackett mounts to. Is this possible or should i be looking at other places. Gonna tighten it.all up a bit more and see if that helps.

I had a leaky tranny replaced the pan gasket a couple times. It turned out to be a leak in the O ring of the tranny dipstick tube. C6

Yes this is a very common place for our Ford automatics to start leaking. It's called the "selector shaft" (which the kickdown bracket and shift linkage actually hook onto).
There is a seal about 1/2" inside the aluminum casing there, (that seals around the selector shaft). Part #7B498 behind the turn signal switch in this image.
As far as I know there is no way to replace that seal without dropping the pan on the transmission / removing the valve body / then removing the selector shaft and replacing the $5.00 seal. I'd source out a written quote from a local tranny shop on this repair. And don't run the tranny long low on fluid or you'll be sourcing out a rebuild on the transmission!

Well dang. Not what i wanted.to hear but what i wanted tk hear. Thanks guys. Ill have to get the truck to a tranny shop down the road and tackle both those.

Easy DIY fix. A trans shop will charge at least an hour labor to replace the seal and o ring.

Well mr bobby ford. I have a rear seal i think so i might just try and tear into it and diy fix it myself. We will see

Just reading this after cleaning up the oil leak in front of the complex before the landlady see it

In my case, I'm pretty sure the front pump seal on my C6 is getting ready to lay down and die (if someone hasn't already administered the last rites while I wasn't looking). The poor truck sits for such long periods, I'm sure all the seals are hardening up.

1guydude - if it makes you feel any better, at least you won't have to pull the transmission to fix your leak
