Sorry I have searched to no avail, can anyone explain or point me in the right direction on a shiftkit installation? does the transmission need to come out or can this be done with it installed?

I would call the people who sell the kits. They should be able to tell you. I think it's only a valve body mod or some sort.

The transmission does not have to come out, you will drop the pan and valve body.
Everyone I’ve used (for any transmission) has come with detailed instructions.
