rear window seal

does anyone have a pic or instruction how to reinstall the rear window seal with the metal trim? like, how to reinstall the metal trim.

I have a new seal with the grove for the trim and picked up the trim. The old seal I took out did not have the metal trim, actually the window is from a 74. It fit, I just like the trim around the window.

if memory serves me correctly you have the glass out of the truck and then install the rubber seal around the glass then put in the metal trim pieces then install the glass and all in the truck.
There's a few good videos on YT on how to do it. There's one by one of the old host that was on powernation tv shows that give a good idea on how to do this but it's on a cheby truck.

You'll want to put the rubber on the glass, then put the trim in the rubber,
you might need to hold it in place with masking tape.
Then rope the window into place. it can be a PITA.
I know experienced glass guys that have trouble. especially with a new seal.

What year is the truck ? because '67-'72 is different than '73 on up.

Got it in and it was a job.
The rear window is from a 74, the chrome trim a 69 or 70. Got the rubber from DC. actually glued the seal to the window frame in most places and let that sit over night. Next day, worked the trim into the groove in the rubber, that was a little time consuming and actually caused the seal to pull away from the window, I did eventually get it all worked in.

Ran my string deep in the groove and installed the bottom first. Worked my way to either side till I got to the bottom corners. I used a rubber mallet and gently hit / pushed the frame down a little more, worked both sides until the top corners, hit / pushed the window down a little more, got around the top corners by pulling the string and pushing from the outside with a plastic trim tool, worked the lower corners that way too. Continued with the top part until the seal was in.

Since the window frame from the 74 has a little arch to it, the window is actually not as tall as the ones for our trucks so the seal on the top is a little less in the cab than if I had the 71 window, still seals good though. Tapped the trim back into the groove where it was starting to pop out, made sure the seal on the outside was seated right and boom, done.

I'm curious about the "74 window , was it from a "big" truck?
because '67-'72 is different than '73-'96.
the windshields are the same from '67-'79.
but not the back window.

Here is the finished window, I painted the frame black. If you look close, you can see the top of it has a slight arch. Lok at the spacing between the window and the chrome trim.
