Power Break Booster
I am experiencing what I would consider weak breaks on my 72 F250 with factory power disc breaks. I always felt they took a fair amount of effort to be able to "lock them up," but as of late it seems to be taking more effort for just normal stops. They do not feel spongy and I have done a thorough bleeding. I know it probably is not fair to compare it to modern breaks but I feel like it should be close? I have only ever driven modern trucks so I have nothing to compare it to. My dad says they never felt like a traditional Ford break, that is "firm, yet powerful."
My first question is whether or not this is the break booster? My second question is whether or not I can still purchase one (mine is the dual diaphragm type). My ford manual gives a rebuild procedure which seems a little daunting to me but I would be willing to give it a try if I can even get a kit? If not will a combo from summit or similar work to replace the whole deal? I have searched every website/ catalog I know of and cant seem to find anything. Any help is appreciated!

Re: Power Break Booster
I replaced the booster when I redid my brake lines, master cylinder, rear brakes, etc. I was able to buy a reman from NAPA. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NBB5473112.

Re: Power Break Booster
I have a question on this power brake booster, my 1972 F250 has power disk brakes with the dual diaphram brake booster. My truck is the 7500 GVW truck, and this appears to be the correct booster for my truck, but the NAPA website says its not for my truck. Did you have any issues with installation of the booster? Is the NAPA website wrong about it fitting my truck? I would like to get one there, but was uncertain about it. Any info would be helpful.sparky72 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 10:37 am I replaced the booster when I redid my brake lines, master cylinder, rear brakes, etc. I was able to buy a reman from NAPA. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NBB5473112.

Re: Power Break Booster
I believe it should work. The NAPA site also says it’s incorrect for my truck as well, so that seems to suggest that the NAPA site is wrong.
Here is a good thread from back in the day which discusses this booster working on another classic member’s truck. He also has a heavy GVW truck like we do, and it seems to have worked great for him too. Actually, this is the thread I read before I decided to try this booster out. http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... hp?t=38068

X2 on the suggestion to use Booster Dewey. I had them rebuild one for me and it worked perfectly. The other plus side to having your’s rebuilt is that you know it fits with other parts.

Re: Power Break Booster
X2 for Booster Dewey. They did two of my cars YEARS ago and both still work perfectly. Added benefit of having your’s rebuilt is that you know it will be compatible with everything else. Unless there are advanced technology circumstances with parts, I always try to save and restore my parts/components.

Re: Power Break Booster
My uncle recently retired and started working on this '72 F250 project! We'll take her in once we installed the front bumper, winch, and fender flares on the Ram this week. We'll check Booster Dewey.
