PCV location for 390 engine

Post by Silverflash »

Does it matter which side the PCV valve is installed in a 390 FE engine?

Not really but it generally is in the right valve cover. You'd want the left one open to be able to add oil.

The PCV valve should be at the rear of the right valve cover and plumbed into the base of the carburetor. The oil filter cap will be on the left front valve cover.

The above is factory correct. For a custom refit, anywhere will work, however it's best to make sure the air flows into one side and out the other, for a full engine purge. And always have filtered air going in, if nothing goes in, little comes out.

Yes On different years I've seen the oil fill cap with pcv in it.
