Years ago I bought a first generation Bronco out of a field for a few hundred bucks. You could see the bondo in the body from 20 yards away. The truck had gotten stuck in the mud and he broke the linkage for the 3spd (column). He had cut a big hole in the floor and attached vice grips to shift it, but didn't make the fancy tin cover. He could have used your advice.
This is the point...I'm....talking about everybody! I'm talking about form! I'm talking about content! I'm talking about interrelationships! I'm talking about God, the devil, hell, heaven!!!! Do you understand???? Finally!!!!
What's up buddy: I am planing to run a floor shifter, Where do I start I just purchased mine from B@M and I am clueless as of what I do. I heard it isn't that hard but rather hear from poeple who have done it.
I just bought a '70 f250 and the previous owner installed one of those chromey fancy floor shifters for the automatic. It's a major PITA when parking. It's a long reach down, and the two-finger interlock dealie is another bad idea for a truck.
I'd re-consider- I'm looking at undoing it myself.
There not practical like above stated too low. They need to set up higher to be able to reach them.

You do make a good point there. It looks good from a lower angle but I pictured my self reaching down and it did sound uncomfortable. Maybe good for a car unless they make a taller shift lever.

A taller one would be great and I would think hard about putting one of those in mine, but not gonna lay down to reach it.

B&m has one for trucks that really works good. I have a Megashifter. It has the trigger release for the neutral safety but is easy to use. It has a taller base than the ones for cars. My advice is do not use one that you have to pick up on the hole handle. Some of these shifters you have to keep the instructions with you to figure out.

I thought the trucks already had a removable Cover in place even with an automatic? Or was this only 1972?

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~
