I've bent and double flared brake lines and fuel lines before. I find it to be a lot of fun!

My wife _knows_ I've lost it when I say things like that. Working on my truck is therapy. Do you buy straight pieces from the parts store and cut and bend them? Where did you get the cutting, bending, and flaring toos you use? We need a double flare...right?

Thanks,

Hey Keith sorry I must have missed your follow up question.

I still haven't been home for long enough to spend a full day under there pulling the rest of the lines.

I think inlines pattern must be wrong, but they did say they will take care of it.

I tried a couple of budget double flair tools. I used up a whole stick of brake line trying to get a decent flair. I finally bought a used set, that a friend of mine had. A very old one from imperial tool dated 1950 something. It works great.

As a follow up,

I made a junk yard trip yesterday. In looking over the 66-78 trucks there it appears that these lines are made for a f250-350. These had some sort of distribution block mounted on the crossmember. None of the 67-72 F100's had this block.

I saw a 72 F250 Camper Special with some HUGE "dayton" 4 piston brakes on it. I'd snag the beams and brakes if I thought I could find some 5 lug rotors for them.

Pulled all the remains off today. I will ship them out tomorrow.

Ummm, I need some more help, can some one snap a picture of where the clamps are on the front crossmember, I took pictures of the rear for reassembly, but since I was going to put it right back together  (I should know better) I didn't diagram or photo the clips on the front, and I forgot which holes they go in.

:hmm:

Here's mine. There are two clips holding it on:

The left clip is broken off....that happened when trying to slide the brakeline up under it. I'll be replacing that one sometime soon.

Thanks Keith.

Inline Tube REC'D my old lines and the kit today (late) They will have to call me before they come back since I ordered some other stuff, they will want to be paid, I'm sure.

also, if you are buying, note that the kits don't include the rear axel lines, they are extra. (25.00 in Stainless)

Spoke to Tom at Inline Tube yesterday.

He said that I got disk brake lines again. He is sending the correct set.

To understand what is up, if you order from NPD the lines will come all taped up with "NPD" packaging tape. Inside one of the box flaps you will find Inline Tubes part number. This is how I found Inline Tube. Double check this against Inline Tubes website. (I swear I thought I did this.) :hmm:

I'll report when the lines come back.

Keith, what kind of double flaring tool do you use. I have a K-D and it gets them lopsided on the small line if you don't watch it close.

These lines as well as new stainless fuel and transmission lines came today.

They all look EXACTLY like the old ones except that they aren't all rusty and deformed.

It is nice stuff and it is well worth the money if you don't have the patience for bending/flaring it yourself, or you need it "correct". They didn't charge me anything to fix the brake lines (even though it wasn't their fault aparently)

Good customer service and fast.

Good deal! So after everything was said and done, how much did these run you?

That's the trouble I had with the rental tool from the parts house. Every flare was off center. I bought a good used set from a buddy that was missing the 3/16" and 1/4" inserts. I got the inserts I needed from the snap-on rep. No problems after that.
They had a nice looking set on the snap-on truck, kinda pricey though. I think the set was about 140$
I probabley spent 30$ on brake line, but I bet I could do one or two more front end swaps with what I have left.
