You gotta upload a video of how it sounds when its done. What x-pipe and mufflers are those?

Thanks! I'll sure try to get a video after it's up and running. Sorry about the picture quality; my cameraphone was all I had handy. The X-Pipe is a Pypes XVA10 2.5" Stainless Steel. With the crossmember placement of our trucks, I decided to place the x-pipe under the tailshaft of the transmission. With my driveshaft safety loop occupying the same real estate, I had to get creative and drop the x-pipe under it. Then I raised the exhaust back up going to the mufflers. The x-pipe sits at about the same level as the bellhousing crossmember and suspension I-beams.

The mufflers I used are the MagnaFlow 14416 polished finish stainless steel, but you could substitute the 10416 natural finish stainless steel and save a few bucks. I bought mine new on Ebay and saved about $4 each. I know they look like glasspacks, but the set my friend has on his '89 GMC SS Clone with 6.0 sound more like race mufflers or very loud turbo mufflers. They sure don't sound like a traditional poppy glasspack. We'll see how mine sound, as I'll be running tailpipes and not turndowns like his truck.

Are those Sanderson Headers that you used? If so what is the part# and did they clear everything okay? I was given a set of hooker super comp mustang headers to try in mine, but they don't quite fit.

My headers are Sanderson FC3. They fit pretty good. They clear the 302 engine perches by about 1/2" and the LH side clears the steering box by about an inch. The headers are built beautifully, but the collector reducers they supplied looked very restrictive. I used some stainless summit reducers going into mandrel bends to keep the flow up. You can see a pic of my collector pipe setup in a previous post.

Well, I've been very busy lately, but I have managed to finish off the last details on the truck and I have it ready to start as soon as I get the chance. I finished up my stainless exhaust, then my driveshaft came out of the shop from getting shortened, I set my pinion angle and installed my JDM traction bars, and I also installed my new heater core. I'm going to fire it up and break in the engine as soon as I can. :thup: To be continued........

Good news guys! I finally got the rough tuning done on the truck and took it out on the backroads yesterday. It sounds like a real beast! It rides like it's on a cushion of air and the TopLoader 4-speed is a dream to shift. The only couple things i need to address are my speedometer not working and re-curving my distributor because it's giving about 50 degrees of timing by 2500rpm..... way too much! I'm sure I'll have a little more fine-tuning to do as well, but so far, I'm really happy with it! To be continued...... :D

Thanks! My buddy came over last weekend and we recurved the distributor some and did a little tuning on my Quadrajet. I still have a little more tuning to do on the timing, but it's almost there! Pretty soon, I can put the hood back on! And my insurance is in the works, so as soon as I get my tags and inspection, it will be 100% legal! :D
Oh, and my buddy and I couldn't resist putting our rides together for a picture. As far as GM products go, his is pretty cool! It's an '89 GMC with a 4" front & 6" rear drop, a '02 6.0 liter engine and a T56 six speed with 4.56 gears. Needless to say, it hauls pretty good! :thup:
