Did you replace this part when you replaced the collar? (The one above is not the exact part but similar)

I was under the truck last night, seem to be under her a lot (joke in there someplace) Anyway, I removed the lever from the steering column to the tranny for something, cant remember, but I know that bushing is tost. I had to bend what looks like an old nail that was in the notch on the shaft, what is supposed to go there. Also, has anyone thought of threading that small part of the shaft and put a lock nut on it, along with a new bushing?

I would like to see what others have done with that whole set up, maybe even make a sealed bearing set up at the tranny?

The one post makes me want to drop the tranny pan and check that spring... humm
