re: One more 3g question
That should be good to go. Looks to me that resistor is basically providing a fail safe for you, because most alternators won't charge when the light is burned out the resistor will still allow it to charge and keep your current flow down so it wont blow the fuse or cause other damage. For piece of mine I just drew the circuit up in a schematic simulation program I have, I used a 12v 10W bulb just for reference, the resistor will only draw about 21mA of current so power works out to about 257mW which is well under your 1/2 watt tolerance. Good luck and have fun

Problem solved
Post: #3 Posted: Wed Feb 21, 2007 4:53 am Post subject: re: I'm so confused(long)
I solved my own problem.
Finally after 2yrs realized I don't have warning lights(who is the idiot now truck had aftermarket mech. temp, oil and amp cluster and all were working) I have gauges and I've figured out what I need to do. I can hook the yellow wire(from main harness)that runs to the gauge in with the yellow wire out of the 3g and to battery side of solenoid. Replace the fuse holder in both the yellow and red wires between solenoid and gauge (PO had wrapped in right side fender loom I didn't even realize they were there)and install4 amp fuses . As for green /red stripe in my application goes to hot in run (not alt light)connect to green w/red out of 3g alt. including the 560ohm resistor ( acts as exciter in leu of light). I think this is correct.

PS this answered my other thread as well concering the 560ohm resistor placement
