oddly enogh there has been a few that have had the glove box and the dash mounted switches. not cerrtain if they where factory or not.

Thanks for everyones help on this one. I have determined, after your sound suggestions and reading the power steering tutorials, that one of the previous owners put in power steering. He put in the Ford/Saginaw power steering pump, which accounts for the later model steering column, hence the altered wiring and the aftermarket steering wheel. I wish I had the automotive experience to know this, but it is fun learning as I go. Thanks again everyone.
