Rob,

dennis carpenter.com has the switch assembly for $25.00.
Their shipping is usually pretty good too.

Uh-boy!

NOW, after "fiddleing" with the 5 wire (Orange w/ Blue), I have one very bright right-handed brake light! Woo-Hoo!!! -but- the left is still dark. There is 0 voltage at the blue connector and I am having trouble seeing the Green w/ Orange (I think it might look too much like the Green w/ Red).

Out to the cold again... cross your fingers.

Ok, now after trying to get the left side to work, the right went out again. I am beginning to believe that it is a combination of the T/Ssw AND the blue connector that are failing. I got the right side to light up again after wiggling the blue connector. The 5 and 9 are both hot on one side of the blue connector - the problem is getting them both to connect to the other side. I am very surprised though; all the wiring under the dash looks so fresh and new - I know, it is what's on the inside that counts and I can excuse a little corrosion after 38 years of service.

Do you think I am proud of this truck? You betchya!

Hey Rob,
Sounds like your messing around in the right area.
One thing though, you said in the first post that all the turn signals work on all 4 corners... wires 5 & 9 are the wires out of the TSS to the rear and are used for both the "Turn Signal" and "Brakes" so if one works the other will...
I'm thinking there is a bad spot in the 10 wire inside the column or maybe at the TSS as wiggling around the wires down there got the Right side to work which is the one that I thought should at least work, then if the TSS has a problem the Left side might not work...

Where you have an ohm meter I would pick up the tool to remove the pins from the connector so you can remove the TTS out of the column then you can give it a good checking out.

I'm not "Brand Loyal" Ford-Chevy-Dodge-Toyota I have them all, one even cross mixed...
If it Looks good and Works good then it's ok by me. Everything has its issues from time to time...

The latest...

Besides frozen fingers and nose it went pretty well. The new TSS is in, but no right turn signal.

~Emergency Flashers all around - ok
~Brake lights - ok (woo-hoo!)
~Tail-lights (w/ and w/o HL on) - ok
~Left turn signal - ok

...just a no-go on the right turn signal.

The original turn signal switch is an unknown part number in my cross-reference and research. It is a CT9Z-13341-A. I have only been able to find a -C, not that is really matters; just thought it was a bit curious and worth a minor mention.

Should I jiggle some more wires? or, is there an obvious reason for the no-right-signal?

so you put a whole switch in? or just one of the turn signal cams? if its just the cam then it could be a loose wire with the cam. other wise i am unsure right now.

Is it both front and rear that the Right turn doesn't work, or just the rear one?

From what is working now I think all your wires and connections are fine.
This problem would be with the contacts in the TSS itself to the turn signal cam. So, if you got a whole switch it could be defective or maybe it is tweaked a little that it is not making good contact, or has something on that contact that is keeping it from making connection...

I replaced the whole switch. It came with the cam installed.

The Emergency Flashers make all four flash.

The Right Signal is dark at the rear - the front works fine.

Left signal is fully operational; front and rear.

All four parking lights are fine; rear-only, of course, w/ HL on.

I'm going to try the wiggle-remedy tomorrow morning. The pins on the new switch were just a tad larger than the original and I think I might not have as great of a connection as I should. I didn't replace any of the pin receptors and they might need some pressure to make a worthwhile fit.

I'm relieved to hear that you two are stumped a little - When I came in after installing the switch I was shaking my head in disbelief that this had happened.

Sounds like a problem with the new switch then... :o
The rear brake lights uses the same connection / wire for the turn signals and Emergency Flasher for each side, so if you have a right rear brake light then the wires and connections are good.
The problem is in the switch itself where it disconnects the contacts for the brake light and switches it to the turn signal function.
The wires and contacts are separate for front and rear so that is why one can work and not the other, this is because of the brake light function.

My truck has this same problem with the left rear turn, just one of the things I have to fix when I get started on it.

Another discovery with the new switch:

Remember, the right signal works on the front but no right signal on the rear... Now then, when I brake the right signal indicator (on the instrument panel) stays SOLID. Would this still be a fault in the switch???
