re: Love them Moon Eyes! New tach
Here is where I got the lamp for the dome light:
http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/ ... roduct=CAR
The part number was "Wide Red 1156-R19"
As far as the dash and blinker indicator lights, I don't have that info available at the moment, Im out of town for work. But, Your truck may not use the same as mine anyway. My 1967 dash uses 1895 bayonet style lamps, and as Ryan pointed out, later models used the 194 style lamp. But I don't know in what year they made the change.
Maybe someone out there knows?
Either way, they have both types at the web site Ryan linked.

Thank you guys. Now I am torn between a F600 gauge set and spiffing up the stock gauges with the stickers and led's. For $20 I might try that first and if I don't like it who cares.

Thats a tough one Nathan, they both look good. But if I had a good F600 dash laying around I have no doubt I would give it a shot and see how I liked it. Its just such a cool conversion yet still all original Ford.

The LEDs. Are they plug and play or is an additional mod. required?
thx
BTW. I absolutely love the tach and the LEDs. Like someone above said to the LEDs. Improvement but keeps it original.

I'd love to put those LED's they have at that http://www.superbrightleds.com site in my tail lights, but I don't want to screw up my wiring.

you are suppose to be able to just plug the LEDs right into the old socketsThe_Eman wrote:The LEDs. Are they plug and play or is an additional mod. required?

For the dash and dome lights they work just like normal lamps, no mods needed. There can be problems with your brake/tail lights and how they affect the functionality of the blinkers. Its a simple fix though.
Here is a quote from their web site:
"Turn signal issues with LED bulbs
LED brake/tail lamps will not flash with thermal flasher units due to their extremely low current draw. Also, with stock flasher units, the turn signals may flash faster than normal (Hyper-Flash).
These installations will require an electronic flasher unit, available in our car bulb shopping category (for some vehicles) or at your auto parts store. Try to find flashers designed to work with LED bulbs, they will say "LED compatible". Often HEAVY DUTY flashers will also work with LED bulbs."

Note at the bottom of the page you can also get other colors than black on white background...

I'm thinking the black on brushed aluminum might look sweet.

One word of warning, I originally bought blue LED's for my dash from the same guys I got the dome lamp from, the superbrightleds people, but they were no where near bright enough. So I got on ebay and got some from a guy out of Hong Kong, (Im sorry, I cant recall the vendors name) and they were much brighter and I like them a lot. But, they were JUST bright enough to be good. I would have been happy if they had been a little bit brighter, but Im good with it. I just thought I should pass that on.Supermike wrote:Thanks for the info, Dan... I wonder which ones would work best as tail lights?
I'd like to try some blue or green lights in my dash, too...

If I can clear the cobwebs out of the brain long enough to remember, I will try to get a night shot.

re: Love them Moon Eyes! New tach
Very cool tach and very nice dash! Moon is cool stuff. I love the old school gauges. I'm totally stealing your red dome light idea for my rat truck! It matches my red wheels and accents inside the cab. I'm using single LED lamps for my turn signals (green) and high beams (blue) but they will be exposed in my diamond plate insert. However, they will be tiny (1/8") and barely noticed unless lit. I still have a nice original cluster with gauges (not idiot lights) and bezel that I'm saving if I ever restore my '69 back to original.
