Hey jzjames. Yup, I'm keeping the windshield trim. The driprail doesn't have the stainless on it though the pictures might make it appear as though it does. Everyone should check out the latest issue of Classic Trucks. It has a great how-to on door hanging and alignment in the latest installment of the "Bumpside Buildoff". It's great info and can be applied to other vehicles too!

Well, I didn't get too much more done but I had a half day to get some more black paint on (the top's not white anymore!) and hang my new sport mirrors. A previous owner had mounted mirrors (different locations on each door!) so I'll eventually need to fill some extra holes in the doors but this will work for now. I'm hopefully going to pick up my inner fenders, battery tray and hood hinges from the powdercoater today so I'll be able to finish the front clip (barely hangin' on by 4 bolts now) and mount my new-to-me aluminum grille I got on ebay! The hinges were just blasted and I'll be powdercoating them myself a stamped steel color but the inners and battery tray were done in semi-gloss black. I'll post more pics when that gets done. I can't wait to drop it down a little and install my rear sport bumper too!

Look closely and you can see the reflection of my 1950's stoplight that I restored! I still need to install the timing circuit and mount it on the wall. It'll work just like the real thing!

man, that's looking good...
The black roof definitely is an improvement.
Going with a regular '69 grille, or a Ranger one?

Regular. At least for now. I suppose I could make a Ranger 'clone' if I wanted. I just picked up a steering wheel 3-spoke trim ring for 4 whole dollars at the local yard! It would look pretty cool on my wheel, Ranger or not. The grille is in very good shape. It's got a little wavy section on the pass.side marker light area but I should be able to hammer and dolly it out just fine. I'm thinking about polishing it and then throwing on a clearcoat to keep it nice and SHINY! 8)

I had planned on powdercoating them but they just BARELY fit in the oven I have in my garage. So, I sprayed them with gray primer and Ford (of course!) Red engine enamel (NAPA Auto Parts).

Yup. That's my high school sweetheart that I've had for 21 years now(since I was 15)! She's thousands of $$$ away from being finished whereas my '69 is going to be a budget beater for now. Don't worry. The '69 will have her day but the '56 gets done first!
Image
Again, not much of an update but I cleaned up my hood hinges and powdercoated them a 'stamped steel' color. The stuff is tough as nails! I had someone else do my inner fenders as they wouldn't fit in my oven. They're semi-gloss black. More pics to come when I get those in the truck!
