Being a computer nerd I know a few things about computer fans and unless you go big or 24v your gonna need a squirrel cage fan or you could stack fans which kinda works.

I don't know how married you are to the "stock" appearance of your dash , but the other night when this site was down for maintainance I wondered over to http://www.bumpsides.com/cab.html and http://www.bumpsides.com/int.html and I thought what he did for his defrosters looked like a good idea and was about the only thing there I found interesting.

yeah it gets cold in Cali. in the winter it gets to a freezing 30 deg.
