Hey Kapt,
That bus cluster just brought me back to elementary school! I rode in bump and dent buses with Superior coachwork.

I can't wait to see how it turns out! I have one I'm doing up also. I got lucky and scored my set out of a local junkyard for $25! Not to rub it in or anything....

Hey la1031, fyi to post your photobucket pics so that they show in the thread all you have to do is scroll over your thumbnails, and when it shows you a list of codes just copy the image code, then post it here. It will show up when you submit your message!

I noticed that a 1976 F600 has basically the same panel, does anyone know what years they were offered?

That's gonna look sweet wickedinhere...

That's wot I'm gunna do in the future... the stock gauges seem to work ok for now, except for the amp gauge...
I bought an under dash volt meter to hook up in it's place, I just haven't gotten that far yet.

Yes Bobaloo2... Ford did continue that style of cluster in the generation 6 (dents) big trucks for a few years.
I'm not 100% positive, but I think they changed somewhere around '78 or '79 when the body style changed.
It might have been a year or two earlier, but I know it wasn't later... unless, yer in South America where they continued making bumps into the 80's... :D

I had a couple of messages about how much I hollowed the gauge holes, and how to got the blinkers set up. I was not kidding before I probably have 20 hours in this thing..

That looks great what size gauges are you using? I am keeping the factory speedo and drilling 2-1/16 holes for my gauges. I am gonna get a drill press to drill my holes so they will be exact.

I am using the standard 2 1/16 gauges, but with out a center, the hole saw drill is very hard to get perfect. I got mine close and used a rotary rasp to perfect it.

Yeah i was thinking about the best way to drill the holes and decided it would be hard to do a good job with a drill. I went ahead and bought a table top drill press
to do the job but i want start that project for a few weeks.

Here is the start of my attempt. Panel is from a 67 F700 dump truck. I am enlarging the holes with a metal blade in a sabre saw and a metal rasp. It's slow but it's also slow! Eventually I will repaint the surface and dress it up a bit. My dash is dark metallic silver, so I think that would contrast well with the black gauges.

I will update as I proceed. A tach will go in the left "big" hole and probably a clock in the right "big hole".

Well, we are getting there. I have opened up all the holes, and I am waiting on my new gas gauge. This is kind of a mock up, the speedo isnt really mounted, its just sittin' there for the picture.

By the way, Mine was a white painted dash, so that chrome on the top is the stuff they use for rocker panels and such on the "hoopties". I still may put a clock in the right hand hole, ain't decided yet.

Hey Bobaloo2,

Not sure exactly what yer referring to here... Did you have the panel chromed ?
If so, what was approximate cost in having that done????
