Small problem... You can't use either of those wires (Red or Yellow) that were for the original amp gauge... They are HOT all the time, both of them... this means that the gauge will be on all the time and will be a small drain on the battery. What I did is spliced into the "Black/green striped" wire on the instrument panel for the (+) connection , this is wire #30 in this diagram http://www.fordification.com/tech/wirin ... gauges.jpg this is the main power wire to the instrument panel. For the ground (-) the Black wire #57 in this diagram http://www.fordification.com/tech/wirin ... s81-85.jpg or you can just ground it to the metal support behind the dash somewhere.
These are the wires I used when I put a Voltage gauge in my F600 cluster and it works just fine with one note: you will see the voltage change with each flash of the turn signals when you have them on. this is in part because of the poor undersized main power wire into the cab of the truck. :o

Also, it would be a good idea to remove the fuses from those Red and Yellow wires on the fender or be sure to cap the ends of them good in the cab as they are hot all the time.

I'm not "Brand Loyal" Ford-Chevy-Dodge-Toyota I have them all, one even cross mixed...
If it Looks good and Works good then it's ok by me. Everything has its issues from time to time...

No you just disconnect them from the other end and route them to where you need them. As every Ford that I have bought used had them cut, burnt defused or something.
