I made my own out of some heavy gauges steel that I welded together and covered the inside with some speaker box felt? It doesn't hace all those fancy corners and bends in it. I had nothing to go by so I just measured the the glove box opening size and how deep it could be and the rest is history. Do the originals install from the front, through the opening? I made mine to over top of the tabs so it has to install from behind/underneath before you put the heater in. Sorry I don't have any pictures but if someone is interested I can get some.

My truck has a sheetmetal glove box. The original owner was a roofing contractor, I assume he or one of his guys made it.

Here it is next to a cardboard one that I got out of a now scrapped parts truck.

Unrelated, but he also made these under bed boxes out of sheetmetal.

Great, so not only do you have a beautiful flatbed but you have a sheetmetal glovebox too? I'm really beginning to dislike you, good thing it's not 4x4!

very interesting link. looks like it might fit maybe. getting the measurements of the outer box would be the thing to do. before buying it.

Does anyone know what is different with the 67 glove box as compaired to the 68-72 one? The lmc book gives a different part number if I remember correctly, and I will be using a newer cab for my 67.

the only differences in the glove boxes from 67-72 is wheather or not you have intergal a/c in the dahs of your truck. since 67 didnt have that option you need the larger style glove box without a/c. intergal air conditioning didnt start until 1968 and not all trucks had it. the intergal a/c glove box is smaller in depth. so you cant put as much stuff in it.

They changed them slightly in '70 when they moved the flasher switch; I've got a nice original from a '71 without the 'windows' in the top.

I am planning on modifying my next one into a document holder/pistol safe for when I need to "secure" my piece. It's deep enough for a 4" barrel semi-auto and door, and wide enough to then hold the reg and ins cards, and a few other things.

just wanted to add an idea to this thread... does anyone think spraying bed-liner inside and out of the original glove box would make it more sturdy?

That is of course if you wanted to go the stock route... I am thinking it would be worth to just make one out of sheet metal :hmm: , but to each thier own. :D
