i took pictures of two columns i have here. the gold colored one is automatic. the other one is a 3 speed column. the differences are the width of the hole fo rthe shifter arms. and the cut out for the nss switch. the gold on has the cut out for the nss switch. the 3 speed column has a larger opening for the shifter arms to set in the column. now maybe we can tell exactly what column you have.

Guys I fixed problem. It does have a auto column but the last owner left the nss in the engine bay when he swapped n a auto. I went to pull a part found a nss for a auto and even got a factory jumper wire then went home and fixed my truck. Btw also my column was missing the pin(for lack of a better word) that works the nss so I got that from pull a part too....

I noticed the larger hole in the firewall that ure talking about fordman. I wonder if I can put a 3spd column plate on the auto column to seal the firewall up? I made a new thead on figuring if I have the power steering or manuel column maybe u can help fordman....

the firewall brackets are different between power steering columns and manual columns. when used with the matching boxes for those columns. but you might be able to cut off the extra shething to make it fit. but until you get power steerign install it may just bolt right on and not get in the way since you dont have the power steering box in yet.
