Well, after all of that, the darn radio must not be the orginal or correct year because it fits in the dash bit not while lining up with the cover frame trim piece:( I have it hooked up and sitting on the floor - at least I have AM radio until I can find a suitable after market radio.

67 is a 1 year only radio. the 68-72 radios are the same for fitting. and i think the 73-79 radios will fit also.
