Re: T5 Swap?
Do you mean TOD? From what ive found researching the SROD is a different transmission used before they introduced the TOD in 84.......

Re: T5 Swap?
Both the S.R.O.D. (Single Rail Over Drive) and the T.O.D. are ALUMINUM cased transmissions that were loosely based on the old Top Loader design of the '60's but were nowhere near as strong. Both of these trannies have an OD ratio of something like .80:1. The S.R.O.D. was installed in F-series pickups from 1979-83. It has internal linkage but has a weird little shift "turret" attached to it just behind the main case. The TOD (code RTS) trannies replaced the SROD in '84. The TOD has the shifter coming out of the top of the tranny just like a T-18 shifter. The SROD's are a light duty trans, maybe good for a 6 cyl or a stock 302 probably nothing more. Although I think Ford used them behind sixes, 302's and 351W's. I don't know much about how strong the TOD is but I have seen one installed behind a 400. It is an aluminum case tranny and to my knowledge the largest engines Ford ever put in front of it was the 351W. I hope this helps.

Re: T5 Swap?
Thanks i agree that it is nowhere near as strong as a t18 or an actual toploader, but this truck will be used mostly as a driver, the only thing it might ever have a chance at towing is a homecoming float. So would this have the same input shaft spline count and length as a t18? Thanks everybody for the help

Re: T5 Swap?
AFAIK both the SROD and TOD have a 10 spline, 1 1/16" input shaft but it seems to me that I vaguely remember that the input shafts are longer than the input shafts of Top Loaders and other trannies like T-85N's and T-18's.

Re: T5 Swap?
Input shafts are standard length and are the same as most Fords 3 speeds from the 50's-80's and so they are the same as top loaders and T85's but T18's can be longer or shorter depending on years.
