I imagine as long as you aren't going to hall much it would work a lot better then anything else, and it does look clean. I've looked into doing something behind the plate, but the angles you'd have to use would definately make it take gas slow. How did you get the box off the frame? You use a lift or a group of guys? I'm not going to do a frame off restoration at this point because I don't want it torn down that long, but I'd like to take the box off to por the frame.
Bumpless for now...

Since you have a "step" or flare side, you can simply remove the floor. No need to remove fenders, bedsides, ect. Do remove the tailgate and rear bumper. The bumper brackets may need to be trimmed to get the tank in. I have an aftermarket rear bumper the po installed. I had to trim about 3" off of the brackets to get the tank to sit flush. Again, you don't have to remove the entire bed.

The temp bed floor is intalled. I finished it up today, short of the "door" I will use over the filler neck. I'm still searching through hardware stores and such for the one I want. I know it doesn't look great, but it serves it's purpose.

Here's a couple of pics...

Lookin good. I have a similar deal with my filler neck in the bed. I'll post some pics soon. Also what did you do about your kickdown tube and throttle bumping into eachother? My buddy has the same problem.

I think you've done a great job. Be nice to see it completed. I've never liked the tank inside of the cab. Be sure and put up some pics when you get your bed finished also. Thats something else on my list too.

looks good. I am getting ready to get my gas tank next week and start the process of mounting the tank in the rear of the frame as well. The only thing I will be doing differently, I will be using a roll pan and a flip down plate holder to use as my gas filler out the back.

I have taken the truck to my mechanic. It was required to pass emissions here in Tucson and didn't. So they are fine tuning the engine, installing some custom exhaust and getting the kickdown in order. I ordered a kit through summit, made by Lokar for the C4 tranny. I had to order a braket as well. I think the total parts price was around $80. I'll let you know how it works out once I get it back from the garage. Let me know if you want the part #'s.
