Great work. Are you going to re-seam seal the firewall.

Yes in fact it's already done. Took some patience but I even managed to clean and reseal the seam behind the engine. After primering the bare spots it will get a fresh coat of Wimbeldon White.

Lots of stuff going on in my world but I'm plugging away at this one. Cowl and as much of the firewall as I could paint got a fresh coat of Wimbeldon white. Plan is to cover the engine then tape off the inner structure when it's time to paint the cab.

Had some free time the last couple of days and I used it. While it was easier to get at the old trapeze throttle likage gave way to a single rod setup. Also made up and installed a new cab ground wire to replace the crapped out original. Since the hot water assisted choke is long gone I eliminated the loop under the carb. Right now I'm looking for a source for wire reinforced hose to replace the heater hoses. Standard hose won't work because of the tight bends inside the cab. I've seen 90 degree copper fittings used in heavy trucks that would allow me to use the silicone heater hose I already have. Gonna price both and see which wins.

Made up a list of small parts I have to get. I've been searching thru my parts stashes and using up a lot of small stuff. It all helps. Trying to get it mobile again so I can get it outside. Need room to work on the hood and fenders.

A/C condenser is back in and plumbed up.

Doing some wiring. All of the battery cables were pretty much junk so I started from scratch. Mounted a battery shut off switch and a continuous duty relay for the dump hoist motor. Used up lots of left over goodies here. The 2 gauge cable came from a garage clean out. The new in the box Cole Hersee cut off switch was a gift from a coworker. Heavy duty relay was left over from a diesel fuel heater conversion. Bracket for the cut off switch started life as a mounting plate for a Peterbilt wiper motor. Most of the small parts are left overs from various big truck accessory installation kits.

Shroud and radiator are in and plumbed. The heater lines are looped for right now. Heater hoses are junk and changing them requires removing the in cab A/C unit. Right now I need the truck mobile so I can do a few smaller projects.

One step forward and two steps back was the theme for today. I was finishing up the alternator wiring and had the work light at just the right angle to notice something odd about the dampner. The rubber has failed and allowed the outside ring to go forward. The pulley is keeping it from flying off. After that went to reinstalling the plug wires which had been disconnected while resealing the exhaust manifolds. Long ago I memorized the firing order for an FE and things just weren't making sense. Even checked an old Chilton manual in the advent my memory was slipping. After 15 minutes or so of scratching my head I figured out the last guy who had it apart reinstalled the distributor 180 degrees out of time. Rather than fix his goof he rewired the cap to compensate. With all that figured out I filled the radiator cooling system flush and water. Got it fired up and it rewarded my efforts by running out of gas a few minuted later. A quick trip to the mini mart and we were gassed up and running again. About 15 minutes into the first flush I head a growling noise coming from the front of the engine. While it was draining I found one of the a/c idler pulleys has a rough bearing. Got the second round of flush thru it and said enough for today. Kinda scared of what tomorrow may bring :lol:

Yesterday went a little better. 3 rounds of rad flush and it finally came out clean. The petcocks I installed in place of the block drain plugs made that little project a lot easier. A couple of gallons of fresh antifreeze mixed 50/50 with a bottle of water pump lube and it's outdoor ready. Got the hinges on along with a banged up hood. Hood I installed is just to keep the weather dry while I work on the original. Now it's time to hit the parts truck and my other stashes. :lol:
