Not necessarily. Yes I do know from personal experience, I had one come loose, it wasn't much but enough to cause a grinding noise like a bad starter.kid wrote:If the ring gear came loose it would make a hell of a racket as it ate everything in the bell housing area.

Good judgment comes from experience... and a lot of that comes from bad judgment

re: Starting Problem
Well, depending on when I get paid were going to take it to my uncles and do a bunch of work to the truck. When that happens well drop the tranny and might even rebuild it while its out.

I have had it destroy the clutch and bell housing and flywheel. On the street at daily driver speeds.crash_552 wrote:Not necessarily. If you get one, their easy to swap. Gotta pull the flywheel first.

re: Starting Problem
Fixed it! turns out all it was was a burned up solenoid. That makes me happy. I still plan on replacing the flywheel though. Thanks for the help.

re: Starting Problem
Well, I finally figured out the real problem after going through 2 new solenoids. Turns out it was the starter and a faulty wire for one of my guages which made that guage always on which in turn drained the battery every night. Anyways, I pulled the starter and the teeth on it were pretty worn so I took it down and got a new one and the truck starts better than it ever has.
