When I did mine I just did about 18" at a time,that way I did'nt have all that glue to accidently run into.Also they make that gorilla snot glue in black now .It works real well.

IF you use the gorilla snot and let both sides dry you shouldn't need any tape. You have to be very careful though since once one side touches the other it is glued. Just like using contact cement to glue down new lamented counter tops. Some real nice looking interiors.
