thats what im saying..unless you have yourself a crew cab..theres just simply not enough room in the cab...
maybe cause i travel with the wifey and kid and the bulldog...things are kinda sqeezed so i take any room where i can find it..and plus it just looks
JC Whitney offers a speaker headliner I had been considering. I need a place to put my CB (the stereo hole) and a place to mount some speakers without cutting holes in my doors. I also need to find some way to mount a modern stereo, as someone butchered my radio hole.
I'll stay clear of the LMC unit. I like my trim ring.
I have thought about doing the armrests and door panels. I even tried a "roughdraft" for the armrest. It was a multilayed piece with cherry, alder, and oak. It came out ok, but after driving the truck a little while i realized how uncomfortable it was. I think i'm going to stick with the original armrests. AS for the door panels... even though it would look amazing i already have decided to stick with the metal panels becasue of my eventual color scheme. I would encourage you to try the door panel and headliner, they really arn't that hard, and if you don't like how they came out, just slap your old stuff back on! For us woodworkers, it never hurts to try and tinker with it, right? thanks for the complimants! -jveenker
Next Morning. Here are the final pictures. The only thing i was not 100% happy with was that i touched up the center screw with spray paint. I pre -painted it but scratched it with the screw driver. You can barely see the circle of spray around it, Only in certain light and angles. Hope this helps anyone interested in making their own headliner. I sprayed my visors and visor brackets as well being careful to tape off the chrome clips and supporting rods. I also bought new rubber tips at Lowe's ( for my visors)

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

I did my whole interior in Dynomat. I know its pricey but It really made a difference in in the sound and temp. in my truck. I know there are a few threads on this site that addresses insulation that you can check out as well. Good Luck! Tim

In Ford We Trust: Tell me about that "center screw." I have one too, with a rubber gasket on top of the cab -- I thought the original owner had an antenna wire up there.
I'm no expert by any means, however i can speak for what i have in my truck. I had a screw that went thru a piece of plywood about 1-1/2" long by 1/2" by 1/2" and it was used as a spacer between my headliner and the bracket it screwed into. Here is a picture of the inside of my truck after the Dynomat install, You can see the wood and the screw if you look close. I have no idea if this is stock or not. I have no holes in the roof of my truck. Hope i was helpful. Tim
