If it Looks good and Works good then it's ok by me. Everything has its issues from time to time...

Re: will a truck start without
F terminal "Field" goes to the Voltage Regulator = wire 35 in that diagram... not the starter relay.tanusfarms wrote: from what i am seeing you need wire 35 to go to the b terminal on your altenator
a wire to go from the terminal to the starter relay
and a wire going from the g terminal to ground
B terminal is the "Battery" wire 38 in that diagram going to the starter relay.
That is a bit of a mistake on the drawing of the F & B wires on the alternator...

Re: will a truck start without
just an update. i need to look at the diagrams again. but i plugged in the regulator and botled down the grown and the capsisotr at the regulator. i also hooked up the wires to the starter relay. i think took the hot wire from the starter realy and was putting it in the socket of the main harness to see which position it was suppose to go to. and i didnt get any power to the cab at all still. so i am going to look at the diagrams again and see what maybe my problem. i also seem to have misplaced the nuts for the alternator. so i had to come home and steal some off another alternator. tomorrow i will install the alternator and do soem wirign testignt o see why i am not getting power to the cab. oh i alos got the grass mowed and the brush burned as well as the old rotten deck torn down and burned.

wire 37 is what will provide power to your cab. it is supposed to be black with a yellow strip. On my truck if I have issues finding something in my harness in the cab that origonates under the hood I will use a aligator clip to connect a jumper test wire long enough to reach any where under the hood and then I use my multi meter to test for continuity. works for me every time. i think it would be easiest to remove the 2 screws that mounts the fuse block to the fire wall and if you look at the back of the fuse block you'll see where the black with yellow wire come in. I'd personally connect up there.

what i am going to do today is to pull the inner fender wire and check to see which position in the plug the wire is connected to by running a continuty test from one end of the harness to that plug. then i can plug it all in and trace the power to the switch and out from there. maybe the switch is bad. who knows.

Re: will a truck start without
well this is fun. the new alternator is in the truck and hooked up properly. i am not so sure it is the switch now. i didnt have the 67 diagram with me so i couldnt tell why i didnt have power to the main stud on the back of the switch. i do have power from the start relay all the way to the firewall. so i am going to attack this problem in the morning. part of my problem may be that i didnt completely have all the wires hooked up going to the regulator into the cab wiring. i will hook that up tomorrow too and find out for sure what is going on.

Re: will a truck start without
oh my god i was reading the stupid diagram wrong. i thought the wire on the center stud fo the ignition wire was the same wire coming in from the firewall. it isnt. it changes to yellow to give power to the ignition switch. once i plugged in the last wire from the regulator into the main square plug the truck cranked over from the key. ok now i still have no power or these dont work i should say the heater switch and the dome light. i plugged the dome light wire into the only plug that was under the dash that was left. it was a black wire about the fuse box. it doesnt plug in below the headlight swithc liek the diagrams show. but it could be the correct wire i dotn know yet. i thought i was done for tonight so i quit. until i just now looked at the diagrams one more time. ok i just need a permant way to hook up the alt harness tothe main harness then hook up the wiper switch whihc may give power to the heater switch. and then check the dome light bullb. and this should be a done deal. and reinstall the tail light harness i took off to paint the frame that never got painted.

Re: will a truck start without
ok i havent done anything sicne the last post except rehook the igintion switch. my plugs for the hazard flasher are wrong they wont fit onto a regular flasher unit. i am going to just buy the regular flasher. so it will plug right in with no bull. i cant find the wire that plugs into the washer motor out on the inner fender. there is no plug for it to plug into coming out of the firewall either. here is a picture in this diagram that may be what the washer motor is suppose to plug into. is this the correct shape of the plug that i am seeing? square? look at figure A http://www.fordification.com/tech/wirin ... wipers.jpg

I don't know if electric washer pumps were standard, or an option that year.
It may have came with a foot operated pump.

my 70 doesn't have the pump or the wireing so I'm afraid I'm of no help on this one.
