Hey Super Mike. PM me with and address and I'll just send you one of the carbon brushes I have. I have about twenty used ones and I can send you one in an envelope. Isn't it ridiculous what a Dealer wants for some stuff. I do so many turn signal switches and refurbished steering wheels that everytime I visit the salvage yard I'll snag those wether I need them or not. Jim

re: Horn
IT WORKS!!
Thanks to Underdog97 sending me a horn carbon (FYI, I also found out that Dennis Carpenter is currently SOLD OUT), I was able to complete the rebuild of my horn tonight. New carbons, new retainer ring, new spring, new relay, and "new" Hi/Lo horns.
Everything works great now! I really appreciate the help from you guys... I could not have done this without this site, as even the service manuals didn't provide any good info. I would've never known about the 2nd carbon, for sure. It feels good knowing my horn now works right!!

re: Horn
Here I am rebuilding my spare steering column, all the parts came in from Macs today (new bearings, bushing, springs, plastics, horn carbon, etc, and now I find there are TWO horn carbons.
Hopefully I can find one close by, otherwise I'll have to see what else Mac sells that I really need right now, to make it worthwhile for shipping costs.

Sorry Paul... that's EXACTLY what happened to me, too. None of the drawings I saw seemed to indicate there were two of them! Thanks to SteveC and Underdog, or I'd never have known.
Someone said Ace might carry them. If you call your local Ford dealer, they might have them. I found one about 40 minutes from here, but he wanted too much for shipping. My LOCAL dealer was able to tell me the nearest one that had them in stock, though.

re: Horn
Well, it looks like my horns are shot. I'm getting juice to both of them, but grounding them directly to the negative post on the battery doesn't help.

re: Horn
It's getting power to the wire terminals on the horns themselves, just no sound.
Adjusting screws, on horns?

re: Horn
Well, both horns quit working at the same time, and that was years ago.
I had to replace the horn relay today, it was so rusted underneath that I had to cut the harness connector off and add new terminals to the wires. The terminals on the relay and the sockets in the plug literally fell apart when I unplugged it.
I dunno about the adjustment screws, but I'll give them a try tomorrow. The horns just stopped working one day, and I never did anything to them since. I'm guessing they just died though, as there was green corrosion on the plugs to the horns, and also the harness connector by the alternator too (but just on the horn circuit terminal).

Hmm... I guess it's possible they're corroded internally. Still seems odd they both quit working simultaneously, but anything's possible.
There's one more way to test them... take them off the truck, hook up a 12 volt jump starter to them (ground on the bracket - hot on the wire lead). If they're good, they should blow 'til you remove the cables.

re: Horn
Paul,
if you have a test meter that reads ohms, put one lead to the terminal on the horn and one lead to the body of the horn. If you dont have any continuity then the horn is probably bad.
