ColorBond

Post by n001pa »

Does anybody have any experience with this? I was thinking of using it along with one of the reupholstery kits from LMC. I want to go with black carpet and black inserts on a tan seat. I was thinking I could get the seat in tan and paint the black with this stuff but it seams to good to be true. What does everyone else think?

This type of re-coloring is generally used on non to semi-nonporous materials. They have an "elastomer" in them to keep the coloring from hardening like normal paint. Otherwise, if the colored surface flexes, the paint would crack/flake. Usually, you want to use this on stuff other than seats. It can produce very nice results if done properly. Remember, proper prep is key to good results. Something else, these products work well, but don't have the durability of factory coloring. Something like a steering wheel will wear through with steady use. Seats? Wouldn't attempt it at all. That is of course, unless you want to make a print of your butt (or girlfriend's butt) on your seat.

I found the companys website. It does sound to good to be true but they say they use it on seats and that Ford uses it. Of course you can't believe everything you read either.
